Hollerween Costumes!
I told Katie she should be Fionna for Halloween, and she retorted only if I was Marshall Lee.  So there you go, Marshall Lee with glasses and Winter Time Fionna.  And Caldwell as Jon Snow.  You should seriously check out his sweet costume.

Crest of the Goddess of the Healing Flame.  Photoshop.
The last personal pantheon crest went over well and I’m a sucker for doing stuff like this.  So here’s another one!
Kaia is the red maiden, goddess of the hearth and healing, domesticator of animals, secondary god to the eastern sun goddess.  Kaia is the newest and youngest god of the pantheon, a priestess elevated to godhood after the former secondary fire god made a series of increasingly terrible decisions.  The black dog (Dhio) and the drake on her crest signify the first of her miracles.  The beasts are facing inward, looking to the woman for protection.  In the rare instances they are facing outward, the flag is a battle standard.
Some time after her ascension to godhood, Kaia and Dhio wed— an event marking the end of his worship as a death god.

Dog and Pup.  Photoshop.  Click through for full image.
Oh mans oh mans, today is Dance with Dragons day!  In celebration, I’m sharing my submission for the GoT Fanzine, which you might’ve seen a snippet of a bit ago.  The original was in greyscale, but in my excitement I went and did a color version as well.  It’s a general spoiler for Storm of Swords, so keep that in mind if you’re not caught up! (and in that same vein, two nerdy scribbles.)
A Dance with Dragons readers: please keep spoilers out of your comments!

Crest of the Iron God.  Photoshop.
Some time last year, I went on a nerd rampage and doodled up a bunch of crests for my old (as in high school-old) pantheon of gods.  Only posted one online, but a bunch more are hanging out in old sketchbooks.  ASoIaF has gotten me into heraldry again, so I am redrawing some.
Dhio (pronounced DÍO) the black dog, god of iron, craft, smithery, secondary god to the eastern sun goddess.  After several centuries of misunderstanding and eventual blood sacrifice, worship of him instead as a death god begins.  The crest then loses its sun motif and the hammer becomes a sickle.  Dhio, who was never anything other than a quiet god of smithery, doesn’t care for that.

Mostly asleep blind contours of the cat.  Sharpie pen.
Hello, I’m back in town!  Words of advice: don’t draw while dozing on the couch, you will proceed to fall asleep but continue to draw.  I don’t know, it was really late and Ananth was playing Dragon Age.  Everything here is fairly gross looking. :|
The jury is still out on my feelings over Dragon Age: Origins.  I’m very excited about the second one though, and I think Ananth is determined to play through the first one before playing the second one.
[edit: Oops, gramatical error!  Chalk it up to being pretty much asleep.]

Soleon winter clothing.
Sometimes when I am bored, I will try to design practical-looking clothing for my weird fantasy critters.  It is probably difficult for an improbable beast-person with four arms in a pre-industrial culture to find decent clothes.  Dumped the lot of them on a texture because these were spread across a couple pages and the cream sketchbook paper looked pretty gross after everything was pieced together.
You might remember these dudes from this post from way-back-when.

I promised it last week!  Here are my favorite pokémon of each generation.  Let me talk about this for forever.
Gen. 1: Mewtwo.  Mewtwo has been my very-very favorite pokémon since Red/Blue.  Yes-I-Am-Totally-A-13-Year-Old-Boy.  In the animated show and movies, Mewtwo was portrayed as a kind of tragic anti-hero.  I thought he was a surprisingly complex character, for something coming out of a children’s franchise.  Anyway, he’ll always be my #1.Runners up: Charizard / Dratini / Abra
Gen. 2: Umbreon.  Dark-types were the coolest thing when second gen came out, and I always thought Umbreon was the coolest looking dark-type of that generation.  Also, it looks like a black badass kitty, so, y’know.Runners up: Espeon / Lugia
Gen. 3: Aron. There is nothing I don’t like about the Aron-evolution family.  I love that the first evolution looks like a cross between a Cubone and a Shy Guy.  I love that the final evolution looks like a giant badass kaiju.  Since 3rd gen, I always make sure to have a female Aggron in my team, and her name is always Blue.Runners up: Flygon / Duskull / Gardevoir
Gen. 4: Bronzong.  I started playing the Gen-4 game when I was taking a lot of archaeology classes in school, and Bronzong completely struck me as a terrifying Mesoamerican god.  The one in my team was named Balam, which is Mayan for “jaguar.”  Also: Bronzong are a bitch to kill.Runners up: Vespiquen / Drifloon / Luxray
Gen 5: Ranpuraa.  Granted, no one here has played (non-Japanese) Black/White yet, and I’ll probably be a latecomer to the game if at all.  But I just cannot get over the design of this entire evolutionary family.  It’s a candle that turns into a lamp that turns into a chandelier, that is just… aggghh, I love it.  (note: I don’t know the English names, so you fellas get the Japanese names.)Runners up: Jiheddo / Archeos (IT’S A MICRORAPTOR)
That’s enough nerding.  Coming up next week: probably more Mass Effect fanart.

North, North, North

Did this a while back in anticipation for doing a big post on the different Soleon biology/habitat/cultures.  But still haven’t gotten it together.

D-don’t worry if you don’t know what a Soleon is.  It’s cool, you’re better for it.
