2012 Monthly Art Meme. (2011 • 2010)
I did a lot of art this year! Unfortunately, most of it is unpublished and/or for unannounced projects. And while I prefer to put this yearly meme together with exclusively private non-fanart work, a good deal of fanart/published/professional work made its way into the spread.
I would like for 2013 to be a “keep your head down, work work work and don’t stop” year, though that was the intention for last year and I didn’t get half the things done last year I wanted. Or maybe I keep unrealistic expectations of myself.
Funny how the year both opened and ended with Dhio and Kaia! Maybe I should do another portrait of them before the month is over.

2011 Monthly Art Meme: Terrible Version. (click “high res” for animation, or go here)
Y-yeah, I guess I drew some less respectable art, too. August’s picture was only ever posted on twitter, but guess I had to go rectify that.
Welllllp.

2011 Monthly Art Meme.
Happy New Year, guys! Here is some art that I did over the past year! I usually try to fill these things with exclusively personal art and projects, but a bunch of months wound up being filled with paid work, professional work, and fanart. (Which, uh, I drew a lot of this year, and thanks for bearing with me.) Here’s last year’s chart.
Sorry for being off the radar this week! I’ll have some cool things for you guys in the near future, I promise.

Updated age meme, myself at 26.
Welp, some people requested it, so I did an updated self-portrait. My hair’s shorter and I wear a lot of grey these days. Y-yeah, that’s all I got.

Myself at 16 and 23, 2008. Nostalgia Monday.
Wow, I was still in school when I drew this. I mean, three years isn’t much, and 80% of this stuff still rings true. And I still own all those clothes. And wear them regularly. :|
B-but anyway, I’d like to think I’m more confident. Maybe.
I initially started doing Nostalgia Monday to post my old art that might still hold up in a more accessible place than my old LJ (which is an untagged, unsearchable tangled mess covered in flash ads) — but I feel that I should be delving into art from before 2005, something that implies more progress. But jeez, that stuff is so embarrassing.

2010 Monthly Month Art Meme, four months late.
I did this in 2009 and figured I’d dig out the file to reuse for 2010 now that we’ve finally posted the December picture. My general ground rules for these things are 1.) fully rendered color work only, and 2.) no comics or professional work unless the month is completely void of personal/pet work. I’m not sure where that second rule came from, since my best and most interesting work tends to be my comics and professional work. :|
Man, the 2009 version is so much more lively and diverse than 2010. One of my unsaid 2011 resolutions was to do more personal art and illustration work. Hopefully 2011’s grid will be awesome. I think I’m doing okay so far.

Made one of those fangled artistic influence maps. Snagged the original from over here.
[oh no edit] Unfortunately, Tezuka didn’t make the cut. Sorry, Jamie! This is largely my early influences, and although I’m a huge nerd for Tezuka and a slew of other artists who also didn’t make it (Urasawa, Guarnido, Barbucci, Canepa), I can’t say that he’s largely influenced my artistic style.
