Catmera Charm Designs.
I am not sure if I mentioned it here, but Hey Chickadee now carries all of my Catmera charms! They actually have a bunch of stuff designed by me, if you would like to take a gander!

Also today’s JW comic was about the time the cat inexplicably smelled like Old Spice.

More Kickstarter Things!
A few more things I’ve designed to be available through the Johnny Wander Kickstarter (which has just over two days left)! A patch of the Maw logo (to be 2.5”x2.5” and with an iron-on backing) and a solid 1.5” acrylic charm of Rook.
I can’t thank everyone enough for supporting the Kickstarter; pre-ordering, promoting, every little thing has helped! Ananth and I have been completely humbled by the response we’ve been getting. Thanks so much, you guys! ♥

Nesting Cats design. photoshop.
I should mention, the Johnny Wander Kickstarter still has four more days! Here’s one of the things I designed just for the kickstarter, it’s going to be on a tote and a sticker!

Johnny Wander Sticker Sheets!
Everyone who pledged over $50 to the Johnny Wander Kickstarter now gets these three sticker sheets! While coloring these I spent a lot of time thinking back to my middle school sticker-collecting obsession and the sorts of palettes those stickers used. (see also: a bunch of Lisa Frank)
Gosh, I cannot thank everyone enough for pledging and promoting this thing! It’s gone so far beyond everything we ever expected. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ♥
(edit: Just so you guys know, the sticker sheets will be available together as a pack in the JW Topatoco store after the Kickstarter!)

Echo (also known as Willem de Kooning) is a friendly and relaxed polydactyl boy. He will excitedly follow you around and gets along with other animals, including dogs!
It is one of my life goals to some day adopt a polydactyl cat. Polydactyl cats often times have a difficult time finding homes! People find their extra toes distasteful or assume the cats will have health problems (which is untrue with very rare exceptions!) Sailors considered them to be good luck and Earnest Hemingway was a great lover of polydactyl cats, earning them the nickname “Hemingway cats.”

In honor of yesterday’s Black Cat Appreciation Day, Yuko Ota has kindly made up some submissions! You might be familiar with her black cats.Bagheera is a sweet and gentle lap-cat! She loves other cats and doesn’t scratch or bite.
Yesterday was Black Cat Appreciation Day! Black animals have a hard time getting adopted, and black cats have it especially rough around Halloween. I drew a few portraits of black cats available around the NYC area for my pal Katie’s Drawdoption project! They’ll be posted over the course of the week.

Benign King Portrait - Andrew. Ink wash, acrylic wash, watercolor, photoshop noodling
The Benign Kingdom Spring 2012 Ruler was Andrew Duff! He’s a lovely guy and I’ve worked with him in the past — he’s one of the masterminds behind Printsess.com, HeyChickadee.com, and Pusheen the cat. Instead of doing a portrait of just him, I decided to do him, Claire, Stormy, Carmen, and Pusheen together as the Benign Royal Family. You’re the best, Andrew!
The Benign Kingdom Fall 2012 kickstarter is now over! Thank you to everyone who backed and promoted it!

Cricket’s demons. From the latest Johnny Wander comic.
Due to some wrist problems, I’ve been drawing the latest J*W comics with my left hand. It’s been really fun, actually! I liked how the latest update turned out so I made an animated version of the last panel.

Drawings from ECCC 2012, part 1
Shoulda put these up a long time ago! I did as many sketches as I possibly could at ECCC, but sometimes it wasn’t practical with the crowds. Here’s some of the ones I remembered to take pictures of!
There’s about three posts worth of these guys, I’ll try to spread ‘em out a bit.
You guys should know, I’m really good at drawing guns.

Cricket yawning. Photoshop doodle.
When the kitten yawns, she looks positively fiendish. I am not kidding, the face she makes straddles the line between disturbingly cute and disturbingly otherworldly. Do cats usually not close their eyes when they yawn? I think Rook closes his eyes when he yawns. Maybe Cricket is some sorta changeling.

Cricket and Rook comic excerpt. Brush pen.
A snippet from today’s comic. The tones kinda smothered the texture in the blacks, so I wanted to share the original untoned version. Full comic here.

Cricket photos, with a cameo by Rook.
I was looking through photos on my camera and figured I’d share some pictures of the latest terrible addition to the family. Man, lookit her little black pads. Lookit the little black freckles on her mittens. Cricket’s the cutest, awfullest kitten. We love her so much.
It’s pretty difficult to get photos of Rook and Cricket hanging out together because Rook will nearly always try to clean Cricket and then she’ll bite him and then it’ll go downhill from there.
