Whew, nearly forgot to to this one! 2013 was a year for property work; I did a bunch of freelance gigs for Valve, Homestuck, Namco-Bandai, and Adventure Time. Looking at all this lined up, you can see this gradual shift over the middle of the year from muted tones with primary colors to neon and secondary colors. Ha ha ha oops.
I’ve been kind of quiet this month, sorry! I’ve been doing some cool design work that I’ll hopefully be able to show off soon!
I came across an amazing post on the Lucky Penny tag and have been excitedly waiting for today’s page to post this unfortunate aftermath to these guys’ romantic shenanigans. Penny, Walter, you guys are babies.
Ananth and I are gonna be at Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD this weekend! Look for us at table #W-33 against the back wall! We’re sharin’ a table with our good bro Magnolia who does the super rad comic Monster Pulse.
We’ll have copies of Johnny Wander #1-3, Adventure Time: Candy Capers #1-3, the Exquisite Beast, my B9 Kingdom art books, and a buncha prints, originals, totes and stickers! Hopefully we’ll see you there!
I drew this picture of my and Ananth’s Animal Crossing characters a while back and then kinda forgot about it. (I fiddled with Howl’s skin color so he looks more like Ananth, shhh.) We’re both wearing outfits I designed in the game; a collared shirt and sweater on Aido and a Hell’s Varsity jacket on Howl (it says 666 on the back). I keep on meaning to nab the QR codes for these guys and put them somewhere online.
Woa woa woa guys! It looks like Adventure Time: Candy Capers Issue #1 is available in stores today?? This is gonna be a 6-issue miniseries written by myself and Ananth and drawn by the super talented Ian McGinty.

Apparently today is National Lucky Penny day? OH HEY THAT IS THE NAME OF THE BOOK I AM WORKING ON! Sometimes I think about how nice it would be if this book was printed in full color. Maybe it will become very popular and warrant a full-color job a la Scott Pilgrim and someone else will color the whole thing for me.
Still in Japan for a few more days, but I put this together right before I left so I’m gonna post it now for you guys!
Here’s the Kawaii design, from initial concept to sketch, color mockup, and finished design. I’m really glad it resonated with people! The number of people who stated a desire to get it as a tattoo was astounding (which I’m cool with by the way, please send me photos if you get it done!) Anyway, thanks guys!
