Drawings from ECCC 2012, part 1
Shoulda put these up a long time ago! I did as many sketches as I possibly could at ECCC, but sometimes it wasn’t practical with the crowds. Here’s some of the ones I remembered to take pictures of!
There’s about three posts worth of these guys, I’ll try to spread ‘em out a bit.
You guys should know, I’m really good at drawing guns.

Cecilia and Death portraits. Digitally colored ink and marker drawings.
I actually did these drawings back in 2010 as sketchbook drawings, but Ananth and I liked them so much that they got colored for the Benign Kingdom book.
Gosh, so many people have been asking for the continuation of Girl with the Skeleton Hand, and I want so badly to get on their next story! Ananth already has it written and everything! But there’s so much on my plate as it is and I am such a painfully slow artist. :| (But there will be more, I promise!)

2011 Monthly Art Meme.
Happy New Year, guys! Here is some art that I did over the past year! I usually try to fill these things with exclusively personal art and projects, but a bunch of months wound up being filled with paid work, professional work, and fanart. (Which, uh, I drew a lot of this year, and thanks for bearing with me.) Here’s last year’s chart.
Sorry for being off the radar this week! I’ll have some cool things for you guys in the near future, I promise.

Today’s comic over at Johnny Wander, with Death and Cecilia dressed as Krampus and St. Nicholas. We wanted to do something festive-y since it’ll be our last update before Christmas. Ananth did a really fun news post with some really neat vintage postcards over in the blog, too.
I’m have some neat Kramupses queued up over at my reference blog, so keep an eye out on Christmas Eve and Christmas!

Girl with the Skeleton Hand Epilogue pencils. Finished illustration at Johnny Wander.
I’ve recently started to really enjoy digital inking. Mostly because my pencils are so small, it’s hard to retain detail with real-media ink. The original drawing is about 4.5” inches across, then I scanned it in, blew it up and inked it in Photoshop.
I’ve also recently started to kind of come around on blue pencils? I’ve hated them for so many years, mostly because I tend to overwork things and areas become waxy and then they won’t take ink or pencil or wash. Still, it’s so nice not having to erase my lines.
OH AND HEY. Today I’m going to be working on an illustration for the Game of Thrones Minizine. Submissions are due June 26th! 8D

Epilogue illustration! I’m not posting a full high-res image because we have been playing with the idea of doing donation wallpapers. Man, it was fun to do full-color again, but all my other comics work fell to the wayside. I’m way behind schedule now!
I have not forgotten my promise of dinosaurs! There will be dinosaurs. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Thursday!

Did something new. I’ve been looking at a lot of European comics; Rocher Rouge comes to mind, I adore the color palette. (although there’s no English translation, I only own the book for art reference ah hah hah hah gosh I’m a nerd)
Anyway, I came across Jake Wyatt’s blog and became intrigued with the idea of “inking” with a pencil. I used to do it all the time, before I figured out how to preserve line weight and emotion in ink. It’s kind of cool to return to that, although I’m still not the greatest fan of wood pencils. And soft graphite smudges, blurg.
