OH HEY HEADS UP, spoilers for ASoIaF: The Winds of Winter.  This was drawn back when the Theon sample chapter went up last year (which seems to have disappeared off the internet) and I fiddled the thing into a readable state after my buddy Chelsea asked me to dig it up.

Now that the Beast is slain, maybe I’ll try to do more Fanart Fridays in the future?  I’ve been meaning to draw some Vattu fanart for ages.

Wanted to color something this morning and dug out this Sansa drawing I did months ago for a friend.  I think I’d just read through something Chris Samnee had drawn because I hardly ever willingly use such heavy inks!  Gotta try to channel that again in the future.

2011 Monthly Art Meme.

Happy New Year, guys!  Here is some art that I did over the past year!  I usually try to fill these things with exclusively personal art and projects, but a bunch of months wound up being filled with paid work, professional work, and fanart.  (Which, uh, I drew a lot of this year, and thanks for bearing with me.)  Here’s last year’s chart.

An ink test I did of Daenerys a while back while prepping to ink a comic.  It’s a mystery over why hadn’t I drawn her yet, it’s almost as though dragons aren’t the coolest and best things.

Was feelin’ pretty meh, so I inked and colored a teeny teeny doodle from my sketchbook from forever ago.  I know I said I’d stop drawing ASoIaF fanart, but, well, maybe NOW I’ll stop drawing ASoIaF fanart.

It should be noted, this is the second time I’ve used the “every time I draw Sandor he looks completely different” tag. :|

Here’s the full version of that snippet from earlier!  Done for the FYGameOfThronesArt contest, less because I want to win the $50 gift certificate and more because I wanted an excuse to do a frivolous ASoIaF illustration.  Entries are being accepted until September 5th!

So, one of the rules of the contest was “no spoilers past the first book.”  While planning the picture, I was fairly certain that Jaime briefly glossed over Mad King Aerys’ obsession with fire in Game of Thrones.  But while looking for a quote to add along with the submission, I realized that I was thinking of a scene that happens ONLY in the HBO show!  So I guess this is a very mild spoiler for people who’ve only read the first book and not a spoiler for people who’ve watched the show. :| (sorry.)

I might’ve spent the better part of the weekend working on this.  :/  But the good news is I feel like I’ve learned a buncha stuff about color!  Might still mess with it some, the whole thing will get posted here on Friday.

Haven’t done a Fanart Friday in a while, so I scanned this out of my sketchbook.  I found this amazing pre-production sketch of the Hound’s helm from the HBO show and wanted to riff on it.  And then it kind of kept on going I guess. :|  Stupidly tall broad-shoulded dudes, let me love you.

OH AND HEY WHILE I’M NERDIN’ ABOUT ASoIaF, I received my copy of Blood Magic in the mail today!  IT CAME OUT GORGEOUS YOU GUYS.  There are so many amazing illustrations in this thing, I was blown away.

Oh mans oh mans, today is Dance with Dragons day!  In celebration, I’m sharing my submission for the GoT Fanzine, which you might’ve seen a snippet of a bit ago.  The original was in greyscale, but in my excitement I went and did a color version as well.  It’s a general spoiler for Storm of Swords, so keep that in mind if you’re not caught up! (and in that same vein, two nerdy scribbles.)
