left-handed: wolf in the woods. ballpoint pen, photoshop.
My right wrist has been in bad bad shape lately, so I’m back to working with my non-dominant hand until I finish a couple rounds with doctors. Yesterday my personal challenge was fine detail x Ivan Bilibin.
This and the cover images were the two new big pieces of art that I did just for the CUTTINGS book. I’ve been really excited to share this one! (For those intererested, there is going to be a LOT of art of Kaia and Dhio and North in the book - including a bunch that’s never been shared anywhere.)
Aaa oh gosh there is less than a day left in the Kickstarter!! Thank you so much again to everyone who’s contributed, reblogged, or promoted this project. It’s gonna be so cool when it’s finished, just you wait!
Whenever I go to Japan I try to make some sort of travelogue of my trip. I never shared my comics from 2013 anywhere, but they’ll be included (along with the 2012 comics) in the CUTTINGS collection, so this’ll be the only way to read all of ‘em!
The CUTTINGS kickstarter is still runnning for 3 more days! Thank you again to everyone who’s contributed, I’m so excited over how the book has been turning out!!
Walking Gods cast (or at least some of ‘em). photoshop.
Whoops, this slowly appeared over the course of the past week. A lot of these guys I haven’t drawn in literally years. For those curious, Noalle is a sibyl and Kaia’s friend. Haldae is a scary dragon. Círran is a flower farmer. Oria is the god of the harvest. (more information about this story here)
If the CUTTINGS kickstarter hits its next goal (adding SIXTEEN pages of content), there’s a really good chance this’ll be included in the book! It only has 8 days to go, aaa! Thank you so much again to everyone who’s supported the project!!
The concept for Cecilia came almost fully formed out of a sketch in Yuko’s notebook! She was looking at her hands and thinking to herself “my right hand looks much more skeletal than my left… I wonder if it’ll turn into bones when I’m older”. When I saw the sketch later it was like a lightning bolt— Yuko has a way of drawing faces flush with personality, and sometimes a whole story spins right out of it.
Oh gosh this comic is five years old now! I’ve learned so so much since doing the first Cecilia short. I’d really like to continue these guys’ adventures, maybe we will in the NEAR FUTURE??
